Just cleaned out 1800 messages finally. Coming back to dA after being away for a while and seeing all those notifications piled up... Yeah, that's something else. Art has been pretty stagnant—even more so than usual; I don't even doodle in class anymore. @_@ It's pretty unfortunate that I've sunk this far. It'll be a true test to see if I can rebound from this eventually. To give a more realistic outlook, this might come around June 2014? Ha, I hate giving dates since I've never met deadlines like ever, but that's my graduation date, so who knows! Of course, if I plan on pursuing a higher degree (which is advisable in my field) then that deadline will probably be pushed back another 1-2 years!
I had even tried taking some art classes while working toward my major, in the hopes that I could rekindle my art interests and perhaps learn something in the process. But eventually my required classes inflated to fill any void of free time I had left, so I had to stop. Not only that, but to take anything that might prove useful to me (digital media, figure drawing, etc.) I'd have to go through years of introductory art classes—in other words, nigh impossible for a non-art major. And plus, even when I did take the class, it always felt awkward being an engineering major in an art class. There was always that nagging feeling that I didn't belong there. Perhaps I can take college art classes when I'm out of school. Those have always been fun.
Obviously, I have not much to be said for work on Paragon's Taint or anything in evomagi. There's not many worse feelings than setting out a plan for yourself only to have to abandon it due to more important things. You'd think I'd have learned by now, no? All of my story materials are in my Dropbox folder (No more losing story ideas because I lost my notes!) so that I can revisit them when if inspiration strikes. It's looking more like my planned stories will become out-of-school hobbies that I slowly put together and iterate over the course of years. I guess that's how good literature is made anyway, right? And who knows how long Silent Requiem might take. I'm sure many of you know just how long writing a good comic can take!
When will Pokémon XY come out already?! I need a good 3DS game and Pokémon has always been a good source of artistic inspiration for me. :[

Hi guys! First thing's first, I've had a Twitter for a long while now, but I think I'm finally gonna start using it in earnest! Feel free to check it out if you want to know more about me than is probably healthy! :3
What have I been up to? Art is slow. Work is pretty tough. Been slowly chipping away at outlining the ultimate story for Evomagi, which has more or less become the main focus of my gallery over time (apologies, Lati fans, but I'm sure you know that Latias will always hold a special place in my heart. uwu) I wish I could share more juicy details about the story but I'm trying to keep it mostly under wraps for now except for a cou
Thank you!!
Thank you all for the kind birthday wishes :) I had a pretty good one, with family visiting, good cake and all that~ My current job has been a bit of a drag on my energy and motivation as of late which sorta explains the inactivity. But all that might be about to change very soon!!! More on that later... :3
Also, thank you so much to the kind anon who donated a month of Core membership for my birthday ;w; I know you're out there...somewhere!
New Year New Outlook?
Hey folks! I had meant to write a new journal a month or two back, but it kinda slipped my mind! So my current situation is basically as follows:
- I have finished grad school and am waiting for my degree to be mailed to me,
- I have moved back in with my family in California,
- and I am still jobless and nearly penniless. B)
But I guess the main point of this new turning point is that, now that I have school behind me, I should finally be able to work on evomagi in earnest. Now, don't be looking out for some cool and new webcomic TOMORROW; I am still in the planning stages, albeit I think I am pretty far along.
But basically, expect to
Ten Years of deviantArt
(lol guess what the title of my previous journal was)
So this old fart has officially been on this website for ten years now, which also more or less marks ten years since I first began doing digital art in earnest.
I kinda feel like this should be cause for more celebration or something, but things haven't really felt "celebratory" lately.
As far as my current situation goes, I'm still stuck in graduate school actually, even though I probably should've been out of here four months ago. But the thesis review process has been dragging on and on, and I'm not even living in a real home at the moment because I didn't want to renew my apartment

You could try spending just an hour or two at the end of each week drawing something, anything, and see if anything comes of that. I mean to do that myself, and I even have a lot of spare time...
